A green building

You’ll find that our sustainability credentials benefit the planet and tenants alike. Even from the construction phase, initiatives were optimised to minimise waste and recycle wherever possible, and now our 5.5-star NABERS Energy Base Building rating aims to reduce costs for tenants and care for the environment well into the future.

Along with the intelligent Building Services Monitoring System providing smart metering, sustainability targets will be achieved with a number of features:

  • Water retention systems and modern fixtures that save water
  • Solar roof panels that harness the sun’s rays to create energy
  • Smart automation such as responsive lighting and tenant controlled air-conditioning zones
  • Electric vehicle charging points
  • Floor to ceiling glass façade with curtain wall glazing, low air-infiltration and high thermal resistance
  • Enhanced building insulation and high efficiency air-conditioning systems work together to improve the climate inside and out.

WELLness is a priority

If you’re an organisation that is looking to demonstrate your commitment to your people, then Civic Quarter is the workplace for you. CQ1 is Canberra’s first WELL certified building, having achieved a WELL Core and Shell certification at the Silver level by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) in February 2022. This outstanding achievement puts CQ1 at the forefront of wellness initiatives in the ACT, attempting to improve the health and wellbeing of its occupants through the improvement of their nutrition, mood, fitness, sleep and performance. Achieving this rating has required adherence to strict protocols from operational and maintenance policies, through to stakeholder engagement and can be seen in project features such as natural light, air and water quality monitoring, curtain-wall glazing for thermal comfort, a health and wellness resource library and more.
